12.17.16 My short story, “Shapeshifting: a Love Story,” will be published in the Spring 2017 issue of Immanence, the journal of applied mythology, legend, and folktale. Their debut issue from October 2016, “The Mythic Present,” may be previewed online. It is an engaging, scholarly exploration of the ageless wisdom of mythic tales, stories of bravery, love, treachery, and adventure that we need now more than ever.

10.18.16 Dark Mountain 10, Uncivilised Poetics, is out. While this is a book about poetry, it is not simply a book of poetry. There’s visual art, essays (including mine!), billboard poetry, storytelling verse and – in another first – an accompanying audio CD. Contributors include Mark Rylance, Sheryl St. Germain, John Kinsella, Robert Bringhurst, Robin Robertson and a clutch of prizewinners: Vahni Capildeo, winner of this year’s Forward Prize for Best Collection; Doireann Ni Ghriofa, winner of this year’s Rooney Prize of Irish Literature, and Garry MacKenzie and Marjorie Lotfi Gill, first- and second-prize winners respectively of this year’s Wigtown Poetry Competition.

7.11.16  Had an email today that my essay, “Wonder,” will be published in Dark Mountain 10, Uncivilised Poetics. It’s a response to Marie Howe’s miraculous poem, “Annunciation,” exploring the necessity for the poet’s voice in this time of unraveling and possibility. 11.10.15  Dark Mountain 8, Techne, has been published. It’s a fascinating compendium of essays and visual art considering our relationship with technology in what’s being (dubiously) called “the anthropocene.” Order your copy here.

6.18.15 Just got the news that my piece about drawing, “The Right Tool for the Job,” has been accepted for Dark Mountain 8, which is a themed issue all about technology. Their journals are amazing and I am beyond honored! It’s a consideration of the virtues of sketching and designing by hand, while using the computer as a tool for iterative drawing that requires precision. In other words: the body, soul, memory, beauty, and savoring the world.
